Stephanie Robbins Thulin (b. 1980) is an interdisciplinary artist working across appropriated imagery, photography, video, sound, and installation to explore the shifting relationship between memory, place, and experience. Her practice investigates how images and our encounters with them evoke, destabilize, and reconstruct memory. These works often serve as catalysts for personal association, inviting viewers to draw upon their own experiences to construct meaning. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. The diptych Mother, Remembered was included in Memory Orchards: Photographers and Their Families, published by Candela Books + Gallery in 2024.

Thulin earned an M.A. in Digital Arts (2003) and an M.F.A. in Photography and Digital Imaging (2004) from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She is the Chair of the Department of Photography and Film and an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinetic Imaging at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCUarts). Her teaching focuses on video art, conceptual development, professional practices, and senior projects/exhibitions. Her administrative focus is on academic and student affairs, with a special interest in internships and career mentorship. Thulin was selected for the National Council of Arts Administrators (NCAA) 2026 Emerging Leaders Cohort. She lives and works in Richmond, Virginia.
