The Space Between (US)
My partner and I began our relationship long-distance, alternating weekends. Once married, I made the drive every weekend with no radio, watching the landscape like a muted TV. This series documents the space between during the final year of our distance, focusing on things that were isolated, separated, reaching, connecting, entangled, etc. What stood out to me on each drive was influenced by my emotional experience of our relationship at that time. I was also interested in this space within the American landscape as both a “slow road” and an in-between space – a nowhere, an anywhere, an everywhere. The Space Between (US) represents our distance through the shared space that simultaneously separated and connected us, linking the physical journey to the emotional landscape of our relationship.
